Grinder cards are thin stainless steel sheets that have been etched with sharp gratings that can grind any herb similar to how a box grater would shred cheese. Because the grinder cards are small enough to fit in a wallet, weigh nothing, don’t give off any odors and can be used anywhere, they are the perfect item to hand out at trade shows, at festivals, and at other events. Also, the entire face of the cards are printable so each one can be used for best branding per dollar in the smoking accessories category.
How a grinder card works
Using one is simple: hold the card over a tray or bowl and rub the bud across the etched teeth, and the grind lands exactly where you want it, with no chambers to open or clean. The etched field determines the texture, with finer fields producing a fluffier grind suited to rolling and coarser fields suited to bowls. A card will not collect kief the way a four-piece grinder does, and it is not trying to.
Grinder card vs traditional grinder
One notable trade-off with the card is that it does not hold as much material as a typical grinders as well as collect as much kief. However, for its low price point and extreme portability the card is a better grinder in almost every situation, excluding only at home use where a full-featured metal grinder is preferred as a daily grinder. Also, it is exactly because most people who buy a card consider it to be a secondary grinder that The Card makes such an excellent giveaway: It does not compete with what the customer already has.
A business card people actually keep
The branding canvas for this design is the whole card. All areas can be full-color printed, the logos can be etched in the grate field and the whole card can be cut in any custom die-cut shape. It can even be used as a business card, where the address and phone number of the shop is printed along the edge. As business cards usually get only used once and then thrown away, this is the only business card in the customer’s wallet that will get used on a weekly base.
Programs that work
I can think of a few ways that grinder cards can be effective as promotional products. First, as a welcoming item that is included with the first purchase at a dispensary. Second, as a grab-and-go impulse item that is sold at retail outlets such as shops, etc. Third, as flat mail that is sent to customers as part of the packaging for an order with almost no additional shipping costs. There are many event sponsors who would love to give out a lanyard and a grinder card together for the price of a cheap t-shirt that would likely be worn only once or twice and then discarded. These promotional products would likely be worn and used for years to come.
Ordering
Minimums are friendly, typically around 100 units, and per-unit costs at volume drop to pocket-change territory. The artwork setup for grinder cards is exactly the same as for printing business cards. Send over a print-ready file or have your designer rework your logo within our artwork template. Then just approve the resulting proof and your order will start producing a few weeks later. Of course, it is always worth checking the thickness of any stainless steel cards on samples as flimsy cards flex easily and grated herb falls out.
